God is Always With Us

Don’t let fear discourage you and make you forget that God is with you.

Scripture - Joshua 1:9 (CSB)

‘Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’

Observation

Joshua was the next leader after Moses died, and the Israelites finally reached the promised land. After being delivered from Egypt and living in the wilderness for 40 years, the Israelites finally entered the promised land, which was occupied by other kingdoms.

God told the Israelites through Joshua to be strong and courageous and not to be afraid when they were going to enter the promised land. God reminded them because God knew they were afraid of the people who occupied the promised land. And it was a command. It’s what we MUST do. It’s not a choice.

It’s pretty normal for humans to fear something they don’t know. But as Christians, we should remember that God is with us wherever we go. It’s part of being a human. And that’s why we need God to decide every part of our lives.

Application

From Joshua’s story, we can learn:

  • Don’t let your anxiety stop you from doing God’s will.

  • Ask God through a prayer what His will is, and do exactly as God says to you.

  • Meditate on God’s words every single day.

Prayer

Lord,

Thank you for always reminding me that You are always with me. Forgive me for sometimes letting my worries and anxieties control my life, forgetting that You are always with me wherever I go. No matter how bad my problem is, You will always find a way to overcome it. Lord, please don’t stop reminding me that You are always with me, for I am weak and I can’t do anything without You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
