Division Among The Christians
It’s a privilege to live as a Christian in a peaceful country, where Christians are not persecuted for being a follower of Jesus. Yet, it’s sad to see Christians turn against each other—disagreeing which denomination is the best, etc. We often forget that Christian is all about Jesus. And this kind of division is a great plan for the enemy to destroy Christians.
Scripture - Mark 9:40 (CSB)
For whoever is not against us is for us.
Observation
John tells Jesus that they saw someone casting out demons in His name and tried to stop him because he was not part of their group. Jesus responds by telling them not to stop him, because anyone who performs miracles in His name is not against Him. He emphasizes that those who support His work, even in small ways—like giving a cup of water to His followers—will be rewarded. This passage teaches about unity in serving Christ and recognizing that God can work through people outside our immediate circles.
Application
Instead of focus on finding imperfection on other denominations, keep your focus on Jesus.
Avoiding any judgmental thoughts or opinion that lead to division among Christians. Just because we disagree with the way they worship Jesus, we shouldn’t hate them.
Help and support ministry around you, no matter how small your support is.
Pray for discernment. Especially in a world where wolves are wearing sheep clothing.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Forgive us for the pride that lives inside our heart—thinking that we are better than other Christian denomination. Forgive us for creating division among Your sons and daughters. Thank you for always reminding us to be humble before you. You are the only One that matters in our lives. Teach us how to focus on Your plan instead of mine. For your plan is always good and never meant to harm us.
