Money Is Not The Root of Evil
Money itself is not evil. It is the love of money that leads you to sins. What does the Bible say about money? Is it wrong to store up things and money?
Scripture - 1 Timothy 6:10 (CSB)
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and by craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
Observation
Most Christians I know have a perspective thinking that money is the root of evil. They avoid money, and it makes them lacking of financial literacy. And lack of financial literacy leads them to more problems.
The love of money is evil, not the money. Money itself can be used for good reasons—to help others, to spread the gospel, to feed the poor, etc. The love of money makes people greedy. Greedy leads to more sins and eventually it leads to death.
God gives us money to bless us and bless others. It is not ours to keep for ourselves. Blessings from God are meant to be shared with others. It’s okay to enjoy things but they’re not our main purpose in life.
Application
- Stop focusing on accumulating money and stuff and start focusing on Jesus. Believe that God will always provide for your needs.
- Be humble. Always remember that the blessings we have are not from our work but it’s all from God.
- Help others if you are blessed more. Investing in good works and a righteous life.
- Ask God for financial wisdom on how to manage money and overcome financial problems.
- Always put your hope on God instead of the uncertainty of wealth.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Forgive us for always needing more than we have and putting our hope on wealth more than You. Thank You for providing us more than we need and for being a blessing to others. Give us wisdom for managing the blessings You have given to us. Teach us to focus on what truly matters and keep our hearts free from the love of money.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
