What I’ve Learned From Reading The Whole Bible
At the beginning of 2024, I committed to open my Bible every day. I wanted to learn more about the Bible after Jesus saved me from death. I was looking at my collection of books—they are mostly about self-help, personal growth, and wellness. I was born as a Christian, but why would I never want to learn the Bible at the age of 32? So I decided to find a bible study plan on the internet, I found a year-long bible study plan from BibleProject titled One Story That Leads To Jesus.

Starting without any expectations
When I started to do bible study, I didn’t expect anything. All I wanted just to learn what’s inside the bible. One of the reasons that made me didn’t want to read the bible was it seemed boring and difficult to understand. But I still did it anyway, I know that I’m not smart enough to understand it but I always pray before I start reading it. I prayed that God would give me wisdom to understand His Word, engraved it on my heart, and prayed that I could be the doer of His commands. Admit that I need His help to learn the Scripture.
Wisdom from God
During my time studying the bible for a year, God gave me so much wisdom about everything. Now I understand why Jesus had to come to the world. The Bible is a love story. How God loves us so much and how He wants to save us from death, how God uses Israel to bless us. Because God is love. I also learned God’s character—what He loves, what He hates. It’s written in the Bible. Now I understand why I should believe in Jesus, and have faith in Him to wash away my sins.
Changed the way I perceive things
Reading the bible also changed the way I think and perceive things around me. I used to see things and people around me from a worldly perspective. But since Jesus saved me, I see things & people spiritually. Everything is just different now. Every song I listen to, every movie I watch—it feels different. I stopped consuming secular things, or anything that isn’t glorifying God. And if you’re wondering how I know that thing isn’t glorifying God, I always ask the Holy Spirit and you know it. I also think people see me differently too. I understand if some people see me differently. It’s the cost of following Jesus.
Reading the whole Bible doesn’t make me better than anyone
Satan reads the Bible too. Satan even used the Scriptures to tempt Jesus in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11). Satan knows how powerful the Scriptures are. Because the Scripture is the sharpest double-edged sword that will protect you from anything evil in this world. And that’s why we should study the bible completely.

Keep reading your Bible every day even if you don’t feel like doing it
Even though I completed reading the whole Bible, I still keep reading it every day. It’s my daily bread to survive in this world. Even if it seems complicated, trust in God that He will help you to understand the Scripture.
So, what’s keeping you from reading the whole Bible? I pray that you will complete reading the entire Bible. Amen.
